As reported in Bangkok Post, Central Watson, Thailand-based subsidiary of A.S. Watson has declared an investment program for the next year worth THB 200 million (US$ 64 million).

A.S. Watson subsidiary in Thailand, Central Watson, has announced an investment programme for 2011 of THB200 million (USD64 million), Bangkok Post reports.

Watson will spend 60% of the investment in opening 25 new stores and the existing Watson's 'Your Personal Store' drugstores will adapt the new concepts for 2011.

Managing Director Toby Anderson said that the new concept store would be more customer-friendly with clearer signage. More space is to be allocated to cosmetics and dermatological products, as well as male grooming products. Stores will also feature a display counter for the Watsons private label range, a skin analysis area and treatment room.

Anderson said, "We expect the new store concept will bring our offerings and service standard to another level and build us up as a professional health and beauty provider."

Anderson reported that stores converted to date were showing 5-15% uplift in average basket value with skin care, health products and private labels performing well.
