'Toys R Us' 
has launched its mobile coupons as part of their marketing strategy to tap every possible opportunity to pull shoppers. Mobile marketing is definitely not a new tactic but it helps bigtime when it comes to increasing customer base during the holiday shopping seasons like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Black Friday and X-mas.

So hows does it work? 'Toys R Us' is sending mobile alerts to customers so they can come prepared. Consumers wanting to visit 'Toys R Us' and shop with exclusive discounts can get these coupons by joining the 'Toys R Us' and 'Babies R Us' mailing lists. Once this procedure is over, the retailer will be serving its special customers when the customer shows a mobile version of the email alert while purchasing the items.

Michael Becker, Managing Director at Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) said that 20-30% of US consumers have smartphones and thus, it becomes easy for the retailer to run its mobile marketing programs.

“It’s a really powerful program and right in the sweet spot,” adds Becker.
