The Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group, one of China’s major dairy product manufacturers, recently announced a five-year partnership with Walt Disney Co.

Both companies will be involved in the development of infant dairy products like yoghurt, milk and ice cream, as well as product packaging and marketing over the next five years.

Yili will be Disney’s exclusive dairy partner in mainland China from 2011 to 2015. The first batch of products, called Disney-Yili QQ Star yoghurt, will hit the market in March 2011.

Yili Industrial Group will be Disney's sole supplier of dairy products in the Greater China region. In addition, both companies will join together in the upcoming Disneyland theme park in Shanghai but did not disclose further details.

In the first nine months of this year, Yili Industrial Group's net profit climbed 4.8% year on year to RMB 563 million, while its operating revenue jumped 22% year on year to RMB 23.53 billion according to a news report.

"The partnership will significantly enhance the vitality of Yili brand," said a Beijing-based Yili spokesperson.

Prior to the Yili deal, Disney has also worked with other Chinese food companies, such as Foshan Daxin Jinpeng Food Co. and Guilin Chanjuan Food Co.
