Most retailers are planning to expand their operations with an objective to outreach maximum customers with their products. Burger King is one of them as the hamburger chain has big plans to expand its business in the Russian region.
Yana Pestoskaya, CEO of Burger King Russia said, “The chain hopes to increase its restaurant count, from ten outlets currently, to 30 by the end of 2011, with three outlet openings planned before the end of 2010.”
Burger King’s debut in the Russian market was a big event as the debut was scheduled in the beginning of the year (January 2010). Burger King has already established two outlets in the St. Petersburg and Moscow regions as a part of its expansion plan.
Russia’s prime newspaper service had mentioned that an average bill in the Burger King restaurant would cost about 120-150 rubles ($4-5). According to the paper, more Burger King outlets are expected to open in Moscow, as well as outside the Russian capital. Later, Burger King will also open restaurants in other Russian cities.
Vedomosti also mentioned that other food chains in the US like Dunkin’ Donuts and perhaps, Burger King’s industry rivals are also planning to capture the Russian markets very soon. Vedomosti said Dunkin' Donuts; one of the world's largest coffee and baked products chains has plans to open dozens of outlets in Moscow more than a decade after it had to withdraw from the Russian markets.
