Burger King in the US is offering free coffee on every Friday this month in a bid to push its new breakfast offering. The company recently rolled out a new breakfast menu featuring branded Seattle’s Best coffee as well as food items including blueberry biscuits, pancakes and a variety of platters.

Burger King launched an enhanced breakfast platform this fall in U.S. and Canadian locations that includes new menu products and Seattle's Best coffee. The move was part of an effort to better compete with McDonald's (MCD), which itself has been stealing morning business from Starbucks (SBUX) with its successful McCafe offerings.

Now Burger King says it will offer patrons free 12-ounce cups of coffee every Friday in November during breakfast hours, and customers don't even have to buy anything to get the freebie.

The chain is hoping to catch up with rival McDonald's which operates a very strong breakfast business, fuelled by its McCafé range of beverages. Burger King will give away 12-ounce cups of coffee until 10.30am during November which would normally sell for USD1 each, as well as coupons for future visits. It expects to give away two to four million cups during the promotion.

Competition over coffee is definitely getting stronger as the big brands are tussling with each other to capture the market but Americans feel much delighted as coffee is their favorite drink. And, free coffee with breakfast is like a double treat.
