It looks like first impressions really do count. Those of you who have recently indulged in a designer clothes splurge with the credit card can rest assured because you have actually made a very sound investment. Well, this is if new research is anything to go by. Shoppaholics rejoice!
A study, which was carried out by Tilburg University, in the Netherlands suggests that wearing well-known labels does not just make you appear wealthier and more worthy of respect but can even help you get a better job.

It looks like you can buy an identity to make you more desirable and boost your status. If you want to create a good impression on people you need to wear the right type of clothes.
The study involved four experiments, which tested reactions to well-known brands like Chanel, Lacoste and Tommy Hilfiger when judging status and wealth.
In one test, women who wore a well-known brand on their polo shirt were given almost twice as much money when they solicited for charity than those that wore non-designer clothes.
Another one revealed that wearing branded clothes radically improved a man’s chances of being chosen for a job and even increased his salary by 9 percent.
