WH Smith teams up with Kobo to launch eBook reader

WH Smith has teamed up with Kobo to launch an eBook reader to rival Amazon’s market-leading Kindle.  
 
The partnership will give customers access to the largest eBook catalogue in the UK, with more than 2.2m titles and one million free books.
 
High-street retailer WH Smith will sell two versions of the Kobo eReader, an £89 basic model with wi-fi and a £110 version with a touchscreen.

The Kobo eReader is WH Smith’s first venture into the electronic books market, symbolising its new strategy of cutting out products with low margins such as CDs and DVDs.
