Former Head of Gucci Tom Ford has announced plans to launch a new beauty and skincare range.

In 2010, Ford launched the Private Blend Lip Colour Collection, a line of lipsticks in 12 ultra-pigmented colours, which has proven to be a great success.

Ford is now hoping to achieve a similar response from consumers when his full line of cosmetics and skin care is launched this autumn.

According to Women's Wear Daily, Tom Ford has been obsessed with beauty since he was a child. “When I was 14, I had to be taken to the emergency room because the cucumber slices I had put on my eyes – to camouflage the bags – had made them swell shut. I could eat cucumbers, but my eyes were clearly allergic to them,” he said.

His new collection will feature 132 pieces ranging from contouring illuminators and brow pencils to hyper pigmented lip glosses.

Ford uses many of the skin care products in his new line, including the Traceless Foundation Stick, the Illuminating Protective Primer and the Purifying Crème Cleanser.  

The advertising campaign for the new line features Tom Ford and the current face of Calvin Klein Lara Stone.
