UK supermarket Tesco has launched a new range of premium crisps for the festive season.

 

The unusual gourmet snacks, which come in a variety of Christmas dinner inspired flavours, will be available for a limited time only.

 

The selection includes Wensleydale and cranberry cheese flavour, spiced gammon and roast turkey and stuffing with onion gravy flavour.

 

The range also features the UK’s first ever sweet crisps in the form of mince pie flavour, which is seasoned with dried fruit, spices and buttery pastry.  

 

 

 

Tesco crisps buyer Chris Gee told reporters: “These limited edition crisps have been launched with the party season in mind and we think people will be able to have a lot of fun with them.

 

“These crisps will be a hit with anyone who loves Christmas dinner and wants a sneak taste of the seasonal feast ahead of the big day.

 

“We’ve worked with some of the UK’s top crisp making experts and have selected premium grade potatoes and carefully selected seasonings to make sure they taste as special as you’d expect of the grandest meal of the year.”

 

The festive snacks were inspired by Michelin-starred chef Hans Van Wolde, who has been dubbed by many as Dutch’s answer to Heston Blumenthal.  

 

The hand-cooked crisps, which are a part of Tesco’s Finest range, will retail at £1.39 for a 150g bag.
