Peter Andre has appeared on home shopping channel QVC to promote his new single Perfect Night, which will appear on the star’s latest album Accelerate.

The 38-year-old singer chatted with presenter Simon Biagi to plug his latest CD single before performing it live.

The channel was selling Perfect Night exclusively as a £3.99 multimedia package pre-order, including postage and packaging to the UK.

The single, which is set to be released on July 3rd, has been written by Tiao Cruz and Guy Chambers who worked with Robbie Williams on his iconic track Angel.

Andre is not the first celebrity to use QVC as a promotional platform. Ronan Keating, John Barrowman and X-Factor star Mary Byrne have all appeared on QVC’s sofa in the past to boost sales.

Charlotte Church appeared on QVC last year to promote her album Back to Scratch. “QVC provides a unique opportunity for the artist to engage directly with music buyers as the performance unfolds,” she said at the time.

“It’s like being transported back to a golden age when the music was what was important and it is a refreshing experience that I would recommend to anyone.”

Peter Andre’s decision to appear on the home shopping channel has been seen as an act of desperation by critics.

However at a time when CD sales are steadily in decline could his unorthodox method of promoting his single be seen as an innovative way of climbing the charts?

Andre’s last single, Defender, reached a respectable number 14 in the charts so this extra exposure could silence his critics and help Perfect Night slip into the top 10. Only time will tell.
