A handbag owned by the former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has fetched £25,000 at a charity auction.
The leather Asprey handbag, which was owned by Baroness Thatcher for more than 30 years, was expected to attract up to £100,000 in sales.
It was bought by an unnamed Cypriot who reportedly studied in Britain while the ‘Iron Lady’ was in power.

Thatcher was frequently snapped with the black bag on key occasions including some of her most important meetings with the US president Ronald Reagan and the Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev.
The charity auction at Christie’s was organised by ex-Conservative Party deputy chairman Jeffery Archer.
It included donations from Eric Clapton, Bernie Ecclestone, Sir Ian Botham and Sir Michael Parkinson in addition to pieces from Jeffrey Archer’s art collection.
The auction raised a total of £402,100, which is significantly less than Lord Archer envisioned. He had hoped to make a million pounds from the auction.
The proceeds of the auction will go to Combat Stress, the British Forces Foundation and Debra, a skin condition charity.
