Hugo Boss has acknowledged its links with Nazi Germany in a new book financed by the company, ‘Hugo Boss, 1924-1945. A Clothing Factory During the Weimar Republic and Third Reich’.

The label is sometimes referred to as ‘Hitler’s Tailor’ because of its founder’s close ties with the Nazi party during the Second World War.

Upon joining the National Socialist Party in 1931, Hugo Ferdinand Boss was commissioned to supply the Nazis with their infamous uniform.

The company was also responsible for producing the infamous black and brown shirts of the Hitler Youth.

The deal saved Hugo Boss from the brink of bankruptcy and by 1938 the company’s sole focus was on producing uniforms for the military.

Hugo Boss was notorious for using slave labour to meet the high demand for its clothes at this time.

The brand has tried to distance itself from its past over the years but has decided to face the issue in its new book.

The German fashion house has issued an apology to workers who were mistreated at a factory, which was used to make uniforms for the Nazis.

After the war, the company’s founder claimed he had only joined the party to save his business. However, evidence suggests that he did in fact support the Nazi ideology and principles.
