Heinz is expanding its product portfolio with a limited-edition tomato ketchup balsamic vinegar variety.
The company has slightly altered the recipe of its original tomato ketchup, replacing the white vinegar which it is traditionally made from with balsamic vinegar.
The balsamic vinegar gives the new ‘gourmet’ ketchup a deeper colour as well as a more sophisticated and tangy flavour compared to the original version, according to reports.

Heinz will launch the product on its Facebook page in November, which already has over 800,000 likes.
The company has not planned any advertising campaigns yet and is trusting in social media alone to promote the product.
In December select Wal-Mart and Safeway stores in the US will stock the new ketchup. If the product is successful after a three month trial it will experience a greater roll out.
The balsamic vinegar ketchup blend will come in a 14oz glass bottle and carry a recommended retail price of $2.49. There will also be an additional $2 shipping charge on Facebook orders.
