Ben & Jerry’s has landed in hot water over its latest ice-cream flavour, ‘Schweddy Balls’, which hit stores last month.

The limited edition flavour is inspired by a 1998 ‘Saturday Night Live’ skit, starring Alec Baldwin as a baker called Pete Schweddy.

Baldwin tells NPR radio hosts “Nobody can resist my Schweddy balls” in the popular sketch.

Ben & Jerry’s claims Schweddy Balls, which is vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered rum and milk chocolate malt balls, is the company’s most popular limited-edition flavour ice-cream to date.

However conservative groups like One Million Moms have branded the flavour’s name ‘vulgar’ and are urging supermarkets to pull it from the shelves.

Some supermarkets have buckled under the pressure and are no longer stocking the controversial flavour.
