Apple’s recent announcement that it will be undergoing a “product transition” has set the industry alight with rumours.
Apple may discontinue its iPod Classic and iPod Shuffle lines to focus on other projects, according to reports.
Launched in 2001 the iPod Classic is Apple’s oldest current MP3 player and is cited as one of the key products in the company’s revival.

As the company approaches its ten year anniversary, the iPod Classic retains its classic features and remains virtually unchanged.
The first generation iPod Shuffle hit the market in 2005 and received a backlash of criticism for its absence of a screen.
Both products are the now the lowest selling of the iPod range and many in the industry feel they have become dated.
“A big part of Apple's success is because of its focus on making just a handful of great products and curating an experience around them in its famously minimal retail stores,” said Donald Bell from Cnet.
“If today's iPod is just taking up space without paying the rent, maybe it's time to go,” he added.
