Wal-Mart Stores Inc announced today June 30, its plans to update its store logos in the US as part of its ongoing brand transformation.
The business has seen changes taking place in its US business for the past two years. Customers have already seen refreshed instore signage and the new logo has been used in print advertisements and TV commercials.
“This update of the logo is simply a reflection of the refresh taking place inside our stores and our renewed sense of purpose to help people save money so they can live better,” said spokesman Kevin Gardner.
The company last revised its logo in 1992, while the new design will not appear on store-fronts until the fall of this year.
Observers have suggested that the company will eliminate the hyphen from its name, now represented by a star in its stores in the US, as part of the new look.
